The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and my wife Anita and I were both happily in love after 10 months of marriage. But this wasn't just any ordinary Saturday afternoon. It was infinitely more special. It was Anita's birthday. I spent the previous evening working on a booklet filled with original love verses. I wanted to do something creative and unique. So I wrote a short rhyming verse for every year of her age. Then early the next morning I rushed to my local print shop to get the poem organized into a nice but simple spiral booklet. A few hours later, Anita and I were driving in our car. I knew I wanted to buy her a beautiful bouquet of long stemmed roses. So I drove to our neighborhood plaza and parked the car. She asked me what we were doing there and I told her that I just needed to pick up some dog food for our collie Rex. She didn't think much of it. But right before I left the car, I gave her the booklet that I wrote for her. I was already filled with excitement and countless emotions as I walked over to the flower shop. I asked for the most beautiful bouquet of red roses. While waiting for the arrangement, I imagined Anita's reactions while reading the poem in the car. What seemed like forever ended, when the florist handed me the most stunning bouquet. I was so excited, and I instantly knew Anita would absolutely love it. When I got back to the car, I walked over the passenger side of the car where Anita was sitting. I opened the door and offered her the beautiful bouquet. She didn't notice the roses. She was simply overwhelmed with tears of joy from reading the love poem. It was the most magical moment. We embraced. We cried together. And she kept on repeating, "Thank you!" The poem touched her heart so deeply that she didn't even notice the beautiful bouquet. I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered if I gave her the biggest diamond in the world, because that poem was priceless. I will never forget that moment as long as I live. It was a truly beautiful moment. It was simple, yet powerful. That's when I realized the magnificent power of a few honest and simple words from the heart. Words will never be able to describe the amount of joy and love that we felt for one another, on that special Saturday afternoon in the middle of spring. I instantly knew that I wanted others to feel the same joy and the same love. So that's why I created AnitaPoems.com. I chose to use Anita's name in the title because of that moment, and because she always inspires me. She represents the ultimate happiness in my life. I would like to dedicate this website to my loving wife Anita. I hope these poems will help you in your personal relationships. May they bring you and your loved ones as much joy as that simple love poem brought me and Anita." By: Martin Dejnicki |
